  3. THE SPEAKER'S PROCESSION
  4. Sittings of the House always begin with the Speaker's 
  5. procession, which passes from the Speaker's House, 
  6. through the Central Lobby, and into the Chamber, 
  7. shortly after 2.25 pm. A path is cleared for the 
  8. procession by the police, who then cry 'Speaker' as the 
  9. procession arrives at the lobby. This is followed by the 
  10. cry, 'Hats off, strangers' to remind visitors to 'uncover' 
  11. their heads. The procession is led by a Bar Doorkeeper, 
  12. followed by the Serjeant-at-Arms carrying the Mace, followed 
  13. by the Speaker in full ceremonial clothes: a black court suit, buckled shoes, and black silk robe and train. The Chaplain, Trainbearer, and Secretary bring up the rear. The current Speaker, Miss Boothroyd, has opted not to wear the full wig used by male speakers.
